Here's my list of favourite words and expressions from other languages.

Alltagsgeschichte history of everyday life.

Festschrift a book written to commemorate an academic colleague published on the occasion of an anniversary, usually with no other connection to the person honored than the book's cover. WP

Ostalgie. Nostalgia for life in the former East Germany. It is a portmanteau of the German words Ost (east) and Nostalgie (nostalgia). WP

Kitsch.  Art that is considered an inferior copy of an existing style. The term is also used more loosely in referring to any art that is pretentious or in bad taste, and also commercially produced items that are considered trite or crass. WP

Schadenfreude "pleasure taken from someone Else's misfortune." Also common in Norwegian and Danish as Skadefryd

和谐  Harmony. Used all the time in Chinese neo-Confucian posters and propaganda like "Construct harmonious society"

Hygge. To enjoy yourself. Especially by drinking beer with friends and family in your garden, make good barbecue food and have fun. You also have "Hygge" in Norway, but doesn´t have the connotations of "hygge" in Denmark

Ras-le-bol disgruntlement. The Economist magazine summed it up as "we fear change, France is in decline, our children face an uncertain future, and we have no faith in the political class's ability to deal with all this!"

Parcimonious "Thought economic" parsimony is in science the preference for the least complex explanation for an observation. This is generally regarded as good when judging hypotheses. Occam's Razor also states the "principle of parsimony"

Politics / Policy. Most European languages does not have the distinction btw theese two concepts.

Poison pill provision in company bylaws and articles of assosiation to make a take over hard and undesirable.

Hytte. Summer house, cabin, lodge, "holiday house". A second home, only used during week-ends and holidays to relax. Normally situated in desolate places.

Dugnad  voluntary community work. Elected Norway's national word in 2005!

Matpakke lunch box brought by most Norwegian to eat during lunch break instead of eating lunch outside. Matpakke is a result of social-democratic nutrition policies in the 1930s to 1950s.
